In a recent episode of ABC’s “The View,” a humorous yet frustrating incident took place with co-host Whoopi Goldberg at the center. This event followed former President Donald Trump’s remarks at a rally, where he disparaged the show and described its participants as “dumb.” His comments came after Vice President Kamala Harris’s appearance, during which she appeared to struggle with the co-hosts’ basic questions.
Providing some background, shortly after Kamala’s segment, Trump stated, “As I watch that stupid ‘View,’ you have these really dumb people. Whoopi Goldberg even asked if I would be in a movie she made about basketball. This was back before I got into politics.”
Trump also recalled past encounters with Goldberg, recalling her working for him as a comedian at a New Jersey resort. He quoted her saying, “You’re so great. If you ever ran for president, you’d win,” while also adding, “Politics can do strange things to demented people.” He criticized Goldberg’s language, claiming, “Her mouth was so foul. She was so filthy, dirty, and disgusting. Half the place left. I said I’d never hire her again.”
In response, Goldberg stood her ground against Trump’s claim of her having a “foul” mouth, stating, “I was filthy, and I own that. I have always been filthy, and you knew that when you hired me.” She highlighted that Trump had employed her four times at the resort, questioning, “How dumb are you?” Additionally, she referred to the infamous “Access Hollywood” video, saying, “You know how dirty I wasn’t? I never grabbed anybody by their genitals.” She made a clear distinction between those who commit assault and those who use language that might not be suitable for a church setting.
Sunny Hostin added her voice to the conversation, expressing anger towards Trump for his alleged “crimes” and “lies.” She remarked, “Donald Trump, I want to thank you for personally telling so many lies and committing so many alleged crimes, providing us with material on a daily basis.”
Kamala has faced considerable backlash on X (formerly Twitter). One user commented that Whoopi lost her cool over Trump’s remark, stating, “Whoopi Goldberg goes off the rails because Trump called her foolish and pointed out her questionable behavior, which she has acknowledged.”
Similarly, conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman weighed in, saying, “Without Trump, they would have nothing to talk about. They are truly suffering from TDS.” Conservative X figure Collin Rugg added, “Who claims Trump isn’t generating jobs? The View would disappear without him.”
Another user criticized “The View,” claiming its sole focus seems to be Trump. This individual stated, “Trump is their only talking point. I can’t understand how that show remains on air. I don’t watch it, but I’ll definitely tune in on November 6th to see their reactions. It’s going to be spectacular! Must-see television! 🍿 👀”
