Just 48 hours before facing Milan, Feyenoord’s management made the decision to part ways with head coach Brian Priske. The reason for his dismissal was straightforward: he was unable to maintain stability within the team.

Football Preview: Feyenoord vs AC Milan
Brian Priske was appointed as the successor to Arne Slot (who moved on to manage Liverpool) in June of last year. At that time, Feyenoord’s management signed a three-year contract with the 47-year-old coach, who previously worked with Sparta Prague.
Despite securing a spot in the 2024/25 Champions League playoff round, Feyenoord currently sits fifth in the Dutch league. In Priske’s last match in charge, his team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Sparta Rotterdam 3-0 at home. However, this victory marked their first win after a disheartening streak of three consecutive losses.
With 39 points, Feyenoord trails league leaders Ajax by a significant 12 points. Additionally, they were eliminated from the Dutch Cup after a 0-2 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the quarterfinals last week, a tournament Feyenoord had won the previous season.
According to an announcement on Feyenoord’s official website, not only has Coach Priske been dismissed, but his two assistants, Lukas Babalola Andersson and Bjorn Hamberg, have also lost their positions.

In a statement to the media, Feyenoord’s sporting director Dennis te Kloese expressed disappointment regarding Priske’s departure. He said, “It is always disappointing for everyone involved to part ways in this manner. While Feyenoord achieved impressive results in the 2024/25 Champions League, the team has shown instability over the past few months. We have not observed any clear tactical improvements or effectiveness in Feyenoord’s play.”
“I regard Coach Priske as a very professional and respectable individual. However, in sports, things do not always unfold as we hope. At some point, the club needs to make a change to move forward, and I believe it’s time for Feyenoord to trust a different coach.”
Pascal Bosschaart is poised to take over
According to Dutch media, after dismissing Coach Priske, Feyenoord’s management is likely to appoint Pascal Bosschaart as the interim head coach. Currently, Bosschaart is in charge of Feyenoord’s youth team. During his playing career, the 44-year-old Dutchman played for Feyenoord as a center-back or left-back.
