Ibrahim Maza, a Vietnamese player with a Vietnamese mother, was approached by both AC Milan and FC Porto with an offer exceeding €20 million (approximately 525 billion VND), but the deal did not materialize.

On the final day of the January transfer window, AC Milan and FC Porto made a bid of over €20 million (525 billion VND) for the 19-year-old midfielder Ibrahim Maza. However, according to Thể thao Văn Hoá, Hertha BSC promptly rejected the offer. Despite facing financial difficulties, the club was determined to keep Maza, believing he is crucial for their chances of promotion to the Bundesliga next season, even though those chances are slim.
Football expert Ben Mattinson from TEAMtalk praised Ibrahim Maza, saying, “When it comes to true number 10s, Ibrahim Maza is one of my long-time favorites. I can see Maza becoming the face of a top club, being at the center of every attack. He possesses a sharp mindset to be an assertive attacking midfielder, leading offensive plays. Maza can strike powerfully with both feet and dribbles very skillfully.”
Unfortunately, Ibrahim Maza does not play for the Vietnamese national team. He chose to represent Algeria, his father’s homeland, for the national team. He also declined an offer from the German national team, despite Hertha BSC’s hopes that he would don the German jersey. According to Hannes Wolf, coach of the German U20 team, Maza felt that his preferred position (number 10) was under threat from top talents like Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, and Paul Wanner.
Maza is versatile, able to play as a forward, attacking midfielder, or left winger. He joined Hertha in 2018 and signed a professional contract at just 15 years old. At the end of April 2023, he extended his contract until July 2027. In this season, Maza has scored 5 goals and provided 4 assists in 21 appearances in Germany’s second division.
Maza was recently called up to the Algerian national team for two matches in the CAN 2025 qualifiers against Togo. So far, he has made one appearance for the Algerian national team.
