Biden Set to Award Presidential Medal of Freedom to George Soros and Hillary Clinton

In the final days of his presidency, President Biden plans to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and influential progressive philanthropist George Soros. This distinguished medal is the highest civilian honor in the United States, recognizing those who have made substantial contributions to the country’s prosperity, values, and security, as well as to global peace and other significant societal initiatives, according to a White House announcement.

On Friday, Biden announced a total of 19 nominees for this accolade, which will include four individuals honored posthumously. Other nominees encompass notable figures such as Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington, U2 frontman Bono, Argentinian soccer superstar Lionel Messi, and science communicator Bill Nye, among others. Key posthumous awardees are Robert F. Kennedy and Jane Goodall.

The White House stated, “These nineteen Americans are exemplary leaders who have contributed to making America a better place. They are recognized not only for their leadership but also for their integrity and remarkable contributions to both their nation and the world.”

Biden’s decision to nominate Soros, who has dedicated billions to support left-leaning politicians and social causes, has drawn significant criticism on social media. Through his Open Society Foundations, Soros has funneled over $32 billion towards progressive initiatives globally. The organization, now led by his son Alex, has played a key role in electing “progressive” district attorneys in major American cities.

Elon Musk, owner of X, expressed his disapproval of Soros’ nomination, declaring, “It is a travesty that Biden is awarding Soros the Medal of Freedom,” while sharing a segment from his appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience where he described Soros as a threat to humanity. The awards ceremony is set for Saturday, shortly after President Biden honored former U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Representative Bennie Thompson (D-MS) for their roles in the January 6 Committee. A recent congressional report has accused the committee of politicizing its work, manipulating evidence, and promoting “false claims” made by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.
